The markets

Guamote is renowned for its large Thursday market, which lasts until 3 pm 5 pm in the afternoon (with the animal market ending at noon). This market is recognized as one of the most authentic and significant indigenous markets in South America.

On Wednesday afternoons, the locals begin to arrive from the highlands with their freshly harvested grains, potatoes, and beans. On Thursdays, the whole village is teeming with indigenous locals buying and selling food, pets, clothing, household items, gadgets, furniture, and much more. If it is not obtainable in the Guamote market, it is likely that you do not require it in your life.
