Beyond the clouds: A journey to the heart of the Chimborazo volcano

The drive to Chimborazo Reserve is scenic, winding through breathtaking Andean landscapes, with the majestic volcano gradually coming into view. On the way we make a stop at the Balbanera Church recognized as the country's oldest church, established in 1534. Upon arrival at the Chimborazo Wildlife Reserve, the guide will share insights about the reserve's ecosystem and the significance of Chimborazo in local culture and history. This protected area is home to unique flora and fauna, including vicuñas, a wild relative of the llama that is adapted to high altitudes.
